At a distance of 34 km from Mussoory, 7 km from Dhanaulti and 35 km from New Tehri, Surkanda Devi Temple is situated at Kaddukhal village near Kanatal on Chamba – Dhanaulti road in Tehri District.

Surkanda Devi temple is dedicated to Goddess Parvati Devi. It is also a part of the popular Devi Darshan triangle that includes Chandrabadni and Kunjapuri. Perched at a height of about 10,000 feet, the Surkanda Devi Temple offers a 360 degree view of the Garhwal region of the Himalayas, the Dehradun valley along with snow-covered peaks.. The temple is surrounded by dense forest and offers picturesque beauty of the surrounding region.

It commands a beautiful view of Dehra Dun, Rishikesh, Chandrabadni, Pratapnagar and Chakrata. Surkanda Devi temple demands about 2 km trek from the village of Kaddukhal. The trekking path is well paved and takes about 30 minutes one way. Tourists can also reach the temple by walking along an 8 km trek path amidst the forest from Dhanaulti.
